How sure are we?

Every place on this map carries a grade for how solid the evidence behind it is. Most map sites do not tell you that. GTA 6 arrives on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Until it does, every map of Leonida is assembled from trailers, official screenshots, developer interviews and leaked material. This one tells you which is which.

What Rockstar has shown

  • Confirmed Six named regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park.
  • Confirmed A modern-day Vice City as the main city, the first return since 2002.
  • Confirmed Release on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. No PC date.
  • Reported A map about twice the size of GTA 5, from a Rockstar North developer interview, with no square kilometre figure.

What has only leaked or been rumoured

  • Leaked The outline of the state and the layout of this map, from material that circulated in August 2026 and dates from a 2023 build.
  • Leaked Six counties: Vice-Dale, Leonard, Kelly, Ambrosia, Mariana and Lummox.
  • Leaked About 83 km² of land, roughly 1.7 times GTA 5, measured by the community from the leaked map.
  • Unconfirmed About 125 km², from a 2024 forum analysis of the 2022 footage.
  • Unconfirmed Crossing into the neighbouring state of Gloriana, and map expansions after launch.

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Between 1.7 and 2 times the size of the GTA 5 map

Rockstar says twice. Measurements of the leaked map land closer to 1.7 times. Nobody, including Rockstar, has published a square kilometre figure for Leonida.

The GTA 6 map next to the GTA 5 map at the same scale GTA V 48.15 km² (land only) GTA VI 83.2 km² (land only, estimated)
Both maps are drawn to the same scale, land against land: 48.15 km² of GTA 5 land against the 83.2 km² measured from the leaked GTA 6 map, which is 1.73 times. Rockstar says twice the size, which would make Leonida larger still. Both maps are our own renders, not official material.

Rockstar has never published a square kilometre figure for Leonida, and anyone quoting one as fact is guessing. What we do have is a developer saying the map is twice the size of GTA 5 and three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2, and independent measurements of leaked material that land closer to 1.7 times. Both ends are shown below.

Total map area by Rockstar game, in square kilometres
Game Year Total area Relative size
Grand Theft Auto III 2001 8.12 km²
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 2002 9.11 km²
Grand Theft Auto IV 2008 16.14 km²
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2004 38.2 km²
Red Dead Redemption 2 2018 75 km²
Grand Theft Auto V 2013 75.84 km²
Grand Theft Auto VI 2026 83 to 152 km²
Measured Estimated range for GTA 6 Rockstar has published no area figure for Leonida. The low end is the community measurement of the leaked map, which covers land only and is therefore a floor rather than an estimate of the total. The high end is Rockstar saying twice the size of GTA 5, read against the GTA 5 total of 75.84 km².

The six regions of Leonida

Rockstar names six areas on its own site, and those six are the only regional divisions the studio has committed to. Vice City is the anchor, a modern-day Miami and the largest city Rockstar has built. The other five spread outward across the peninsula and the panhandle, from the island chain in the south to the national park along the northern border.

Vice City

Rockstar calls Vice City the sun and fun capital of America. It returns in a modern-day setting for the first time since 2002 and is the largest city Rockstar has built.

What Leonida is based on in real life

Leonida is Florida with the names changed. Vice City is Miami, Grassrivers is the Everglades, Port Gellhorn is Panama City on the panhandle, Ambrosia is the sugar country around Clewiston, and Mount Kalaga reaches up into a Georgia that the game calls Gloriana. The geography follows the real coastline closely enough that you can line the two up.

What the GTA 6 map of Leonida actually shows

What this GTA 6 map shows

The GTA 6 map on this page is an interactive atlas of Leonida, the fictional Florida that Grand Theft Auto VI is set in. It plots every region, city, district, landmark and body of water that Rockstar has shown or that credible material has described, and for each one it tells you exactly where that claim came from. Drag it, zoom it, filter it by category, or search for a place by name. Below the map the same places are listed as ordinary text, so the whole thing is readable without a mouse and without JavaScript.

That combination is the reason this site exists. Most pages that rank for the GTA 6 map either show you a picture with no explanation of its sources, or write a thousand words about the map without ever showing you one. This is a working map and a sourced reference in the same place.

How to use the interactive map

Drag anywhere on the map to move it. Pinch or scroll to zoom, though the wheel only takes over after you click the map once, so the page does not trap your scroll on the way past. The plus and minus buttons do the same job from a keyboard or a phone, and the reset button returns you to the whole state.

The filters are where the map earns its keep. Turn categories off to strip it down to just cities, just districts, just landmarks or just water. Turn evidence grades off to see only what Rockstar has confirmed, or only what came out of the leak. Filtering to confirmed places alone is the fastest way to see how much of any GTA 6 map you find online is actually guesswork. Select a marker to read what is known about that place, what it is based on in real life, and the source behind it.

Every place is graded by how solid the evidence is

No place goes on this map without a documented source, and every entry carries one of four grades. Confirmed means Rockstar showed it, on the official site, in a trailer or in a screenshot. Reported means a Rockstar developer said it in an interview, or established outlets corroborate it. Leaked means it appears only in leaked material, which in this case reportedly comes from a 2023 build and may be badly out of date. Unconfirmed means it is a community reading of ambiguous evidence, listed because people ask about it rather than because it is settled.

Nobody else grading a GTA 6 map does this, and it changes what the map is for. A map where everything looks equally certain cannot tell you that Vice City is a fact while half the county names might vanish before launch. This one can. As Rockstar confirms things, grades move up and the sources change with them, which is the main ongoing work on this site.

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar has never published a square kilometre figure for Leonida, so any site quoting one to two decimal places is inventing precision it does not have. What exists is a developer saying the map is about twice the size of GTA 5, and independent measurement of the leaked map that lands nearer 1.7 times. Both numbers are shown above, drawn to scale against the GTA 5 map, and the full breakdown of where each figure comes from, including why the two cannot both be true under the usual measurements, is on the map size page.

Read the full size breakdown

The GTA 6 map compared to GTA 5

The comparison people actually want is the GTA 6 map vs GTA 5, and it is more awkward than it looks, because the two are rarely measured the same way. GTA 5 is usually given as 75.84 km² in total, of which about 48 km² is land. The community measurement of the leaked GTA 6 map, roughly 83 km², is land only. Set land against land and you get about 1.7 times. Set that same land figure against the GTA 5 total instead and you get 1.1 times, which is where most of the confusion online comes from.

Whatever the ratio, the direction is not in dispute. Leonida is the largest world Rockstar has built, and Vice City alone is reported to be roughly twice the size of Los Santos, with its surrounding suburbs many times the size of the area around Los Santos. The side by side above draws both maps at one scale so you can judge it yourself, and the full GTA 6 map size comparison against every Rockstar game goes through the figures one by one.

GTA 6 vs GTA 5

What the leaked GTA 6 map added, and what it did not

A complete map image circulated in August 2026 and every GTA site ran with it. Take-Two responded with takedown notices, which is the strongest signal available that the material is genuine rather than a fabrication. It is also reportedly built from 2023 development data, and the copy that spread most widely had been edited before release. So the leaked GTA 6 map is useful for the shape of the state and the position of the major regions, and unreliable for individual minor place names, which are exactly the detail that changes late in development. Everything here that traces back to it is graded leaked, and this site describes the leak rather than hosting it.

Leaked Map

Is there an official GTA 6 map?

Not yet. Rockstar has published six region descriptions, two trailers, an extended gameplay look and a set of screenshots, and no map at all. The physical edition ships as a download code rather than a disc, which removes the traditional home of the printed fold-out map, so an official GTA 6 map may not appear before launch on 19 November 2026. Every interactive GTA 6 map available today, this one included, is fan-built, and the honest ones say so.

Official Map

How this GTA 6 map project stays current

Each marker sits at the longitude and latitude of its real-world counterpart, warped onto the leaked outline of the state, so districts keep their positions relative to one another. The outline itself is traced from the leaked layout and is graded as leaked, like anything else that only appears in that material. The mapping project behind all of this started with the 2022 breach, when development clips carrying on-screen world coordinates gave the community something measurable to work from. Trailer analysis anchored the game geography to real Miami landmarks after that.

Until the game is out, this map will keep changing. The review date at the bottom of the page tells you when it was last checked against the sources. Corrections are welcome, and the ones that arrive with a trailer timestamp, a screenshot or an official page are usually live within a day.

GTA 6 map questions people actually ask

How big is the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar says the Leonida map is twice the size of the GTA 5 map and three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2. Measurements taken from leaked map material put the explorable land closer to 83 km², about 1.7 times the 48 km² of land in GTA 5. Rockstar has never published an official square kilometre figure.

Is the GTA 6 map bigger than GTA 5?

Yes. Every source agrees on that, and it is the largest world Rockstar has built. The disagreement is only about how much bigger: somewhere between 1.7 and 2 times, depending on whether you are measuring land, water or both.

How much bigger is the GTA 6 map compared to GTA 5?

Between 1.7 and 2 times, comparing land to land. Rockstar says twice the size of GTA 5. Community measurement of the leaked GTA 6 map puts the land at about 83 km² against 48 km² of land in GTA 5, which is 1.73 times. The 1.1 times figure that circulates compares GTA 6 land against the GTA 5 total including ocean, so it is not comparing the same thing.

What scale is the GTA 6 map drawn to?

Leonida is not real Florida at Florida’s scale. The real state runs about 720 km from the western panhandle to Miami and no game world is that large, so distances between regions are compressed and the panhandle sits far closer to the peninsula than it does in life. The map on this site keeps each place at the position of its real-world counterpart, warped onto the compact layout the leaked map shows.

Is Vice City bigger than Los Santos?

Reportedly yes, by roughly double, with the city and its surrounding suburbs at around eleven times Los Santos and its surroundings. Those figures come from reporting rather than from Rockstar directly. What Rockstar has said is that this is the largest and most detailed world the studio has built.

What is the GTA 6 mapping project?

The community effort to reconstruct the map before release. It started with the September 2022 breach, which put roughly ninety development clips online, many with on-screen world coordinates that made the footage measurable. Trailer and screenshot analysis then anchored the game geography to real Miami landmarks. Every fan-made GTA 6 map, including this one, rests on that work.

Is Vice City in GTA 6?

Yes, and it is the main city. Rockstar confirmed a modern-day Vice City inside the fictional state of Leonida, the first return to the city since the 2002 game.

What regions are on the GTA 6 map?

Rockstar names six: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Leaked material adds six counties on top of those, which Rockstar has not confirmed.

What is the GTA 6 map based on?

Florida, closely enough that you can lay the two side by side. Leonida is a fictional version of the state, named after Ponce de Leon. On the leaked layout it keeps the broad shape: land running south to an island chain off the southern tip, a western arm where the panhandle would be, and a large lake inland. Vice City stands in for Miami, Grassrivers for the Everglades, Port Gellhorn for Panama City, and Ambrosia for the sugar country around Clewiston. Mount Kalaga reaches north into a Georgia that the game calls Gloriana.

What does the GTA 6 map look like?

A compact Florida, wider and shorter than the real state. Vice City sits on the south-east coast, split by a bay with a barrier island on the ocean side, and wetlands fill the southern interior. The Leonida Keys trail off the bottom, the panhandle runs west along the top toward Port Gellhorn, and Mount Kalaga National Park sits on the northern border. Nobody outside Rockstar has seen the finished map, so this is the layout that the leaked material and the trailers together describe rather than a confirmed picture.

Has the GTA 6 map been released?

No. Rockstar has not released a map of Leonida, and the game itself is not out until 19 November 2026. What circulated in August 2026 was a leak rather than a release, and Take-Two responded to it with takedown notices. Every GTA 6 map you can look at today, including this one, is reconstructed by fans from trailers, screenshots and leaked material.

Has the GTA 6 map been confirmed?

Partly. Rockstar has confirmed the six regions of Leonida and a set of named places inside them on its own site, so those are settled. The outline of the state, the county names and most of the smaller settlements come from leaked material and have never been confirmed. That split is exactly why every entry on this map carries an evidence grade instead of being presented as equally certain.

Is Leonida a real place?

No. Leonida is a fictional version of Florida, named after Ponce de Leon, with the motto The Goodtime State and an alligator on its seal. Vice City stands in for Miami, Grassrivers for the Everglades and Port Gellhorn for Panama City.

Has the GTA 6 map leaked?

A full map image circulated in August 2026 and Take-Two responded with takedown notices. The material reportedly dates from 2023 build data, so it shows an older state of the map, and parts of the circulated file were edited before it spread.

When does GTA 6 come out?

On 19 November 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The date has slipped twice already, but Rockstar restated it in late August 2026 and Take-Two has tied its full-year revenue guidance to it. No PC release date has been announced.

Is there an official GTA 6 interactive map?

Not yet. Rockstar has published region descriptions and screenshots but no map of its own, and the physical release ships as a download code rather than a disc, so a printed map in the box is unlikely. Every interactive map available today, including this one, is fan-built.

Can you leave Leonida in GTA 6?

There is no evidence that you can. Gloriana, the neighbouring state, shows up on licence plates but does not appear on any version of the map. The closest precedent is North Yankton in GTA 5, which was reachable only during specific missions.

Will the GTA 6 map expand after launch?

Unconfirmed. A 2022 report described plans to add missions and cities regularly, but Rockstar never committed to that publicly and has not shipped single-player story expansion since 2009. Treat post-launch map growth as a rumour, not a plan.
